Kochi, Pune given 3 days to clear dues Mumbai: The working committee of the BCCI has flatly rejected the 'discount' demand of Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors India. The two teams, who have paid only 75 per cent of their annual franchise fees, have been told to deposit the rest within three days.
'Our lawyers are of the opinion that their demand for discount is not valid. The full payment has to be made or else we will take suitable measures,' said a top board official. One of the options before the BCCI is to deduct the money from the bank guarantee the teams have submitted.
It is also felt that the two teams may take the legal recourse. 'They can go to court or seek arbitration but not before making full payment. They have only three days to honour the commitment,' the official said.
Meanwhile, there were discussions on the inadequate security in Kochi and another IPL hosting centre. Meanwhile, there is no chance of an early resumption of Indo-Pak cricket. Besides, there has also been no decision on reports that senior players want to pull out of the West Indies series.
The Board also announced that the cash incentive to the members of the World Cup-winning team has been increased from Rs1 crore per player to Rs2 crore per player.
