Sania Mirza undergoes knee operation Hyderabad, Oct 08 (INN): There is no let up in the chequered career graph of the injury-prone Indian tennis ace, Sania Mirza. However, there was a positive development on Saturday with her decision to go ahead with a surgery on the left knee in a premier corporate hospital here on Saturday.
Her father Imran Mirza told INN that the operation was successful and the entire family, including hubby Shoaib Malik, were present at the time of the surgery.
Undergoing the arthroscopic surgery done at the behest of doctors who treated her during the US Open in September. Sania had torn her meniscus midway through the Grand Slam event, which effectively sidelined her for several weeks now.
In fact, this is the second time that she has been operated upon. Although, she bounced back after an arthroscopy in 2006, Sania aggravated the injury over a period of time. Imran was hopeful that this time round the operation would enable her to return to the courts, sooner than later.
