Gun for Glory 2012 Shooting Championship from 12 Sep Pune, September 10, 2012: The SEED 'Gun for Glory' Shooting Championship will be held here at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex Shooting Range, Balewadi, from September 12 to18.
The second edition of the 'Gun for Glory' annual Shooting Championship, which is being organised under the aegis of Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation, an initiative of India's shooting ace and bronze medalist at the 2012 Olympic, will carry a total prize money of Rs 25 lakh, and will also feature an opportunity for young children under the 'Fan Championship' category, and for the first time, introduces the Shotgun category for professional shooters in the state of Maharashtra.
Pawan Kumar Singh, Co-Founder and Director of the Gun for Glory Shooting Academy said, at a press conference held here on Monday, 'The rich haul by the Indian shooters at the London Olympics has come as a huge shot-in-the-arm for the sport here in India.
Taking the SEED Gun for Glory Championship to the next level and attracting new talent to shooting is the way forward. We are very upbeat about the future of Indian shooting and hope that millions of youngsters will draw inspiration from Gagan's stupendous achievement.'
The second edition of the path-breaking SEED 'Gun for Glory' Shooting Championship, will bring together the three Olympic medal winners at the recently-concluded London Games ' Vijay Kumar, boxer MC Mary Kom and Gagan Narang.
The Inaugural Ceremony will take place at the Final Lounge of the Balewadi Shooting Range at 10.30am on September 12. Hon'ble Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Shri Ajay Maken has already given his consent to grace the championship.
SEED Managing Director Mr Narendra Barhate said, 'We are proud to be associated with the sport that has kept the Indian flag high in the last three consecutive Olympics by winning medals.
We are particularly happy to partner with Gagan Narang in his effort to showcase India's shooting talent and to attract new talent to the sport.'
Narang said the SEED Gun for Glory Championship will not only be an exciting competition for the purists, but it will also provide opportunity to thousands of children who are fascinated by shooting.

There are attractive prizes in the offing for the young winners in the 'Fan Shooting' category and the lucky ones get a Championship T-Shirt signed by Narang.
In addition to the Rs 25 lakh prize money for various categories, the winners will receive Original Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals. Besides, participants can also hope to win the state-of-the-art AR 20 Walther Air Rifles, Shooting Kits and Equipment in the Championship.
The championship would be played in different categories like Air Rifle and Air Pistol (ISSF) for those who have qualified for the national championship ' ace shooters Samaresh Jang, Rahi Sarnobat, Vijay Kumar and Annu Raj Singh are some of the participants in this category.
The Air Rifle and Air Pistol (NR) would make all those shooters eligible to participate who have already qualified from the state championship for participating in pre- national level tournament.
The Challengers' Cup would be the special attraction of the Championship, where the top-8 participants from the Male and Female categories will qualify for this event, and based on their final score they will fight in an open category, on one-on-one basis, in a fun-filled atmosphere.
