Govt urges Tata to invest heavily in state
Hyderabad, Nov 7 (INN): Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Sunday urged Tata Sons Chairman Ratan Tata to invest heavily in the state and praised the companys industrial prowess which has become the backbone of the countrys progress. Mr Rosaiah took the opportunity given by the one-on-one conversation with the industrialist at the launch of the first Sikorsky S-92 Helicopter cabin which has been made in India by the Tata Advance System at Adibhatla Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
The Rs 1,000 crore project was launched by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy on July 30, 2009. The company had, at that time, announced that the first phase of the facility would be completed within a period of eight to 10 months. Mr Ratan Tata reciprocated Mr Rosaiahs praise by saying that the state has a bright future, especially considering the fact the industrial progress Andhra Pradesh has made in the last few years.
The Tata Group Chairman revealed that his company is interested in steel, power and automobile sectors and stated that Andhra Pradesh is sure to attract huge investments, due to the efforts by the government to attract investors and boost industrial development. Mr Rosaiah told Mr Tata that that economic development and employment generation are the main objectives of his government. He recalled that he had had the privilege of meeting Jamshedji Tata.
He said that the government was aware of the Tata Group foraying into a business venture with Agasthya Helicopters Group and is planning to set its manufacturing unit in India. Mr Rosaiah pointed out that Hyderabad is an ideal location for the venture. The Chief Minister urged Mr Tata to finalise this venture at the earliest.
