BSV Expo to showcase new range of buses Hyderabad, March 8 (INN): Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana will inaugurate the four-day second Bus and Special Vehicle Expo in Hyderabad on Wednesday, where vehicle manufacturers will showcase a new range of buses including modern luxury coaches, hybrid bus, mobile classrooms etc. The expo is being organized jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
The Bus and Special Vehicle Expo will be held March 9 to March 12, 2011 at Hitex Exhibition Centre, Izzat Nagar, Hyderabad. The event is supported by Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India, Association of State Road Transport Undertaking and Department of Transport, Andhra Pradesh.
The first day, March 9, 2011, will be exclusively a 'Media Day' where the press will interact with key players of the Industry. A series of special meetings between the manufacturers and specific user segment are also planned during the subsequent days ' some of these are, Ministry of Urban Development, State Road Transport Corporations, Bus Body Builders Accreditation Board, etc. The Indian bus industry, one of the largest industries in the world, forms an important part of the automobile industry in the country.
Over the last few years, the bus industry has witnessed tremendous growth and new types of buses with better facilities, technologies have been introduced. With the liberalization of the Indian market, increase in the number of commuter base, rising economic growth, development of infrastructure and new townships; the demand for world class bus transportation is also on the rise.
Continuing on theme of the Greener world and green technology; BSVE 2011 will showcase the first Hybrid bus of the country by TATA Motors. The buses have low operating costs, better fuel efficiency, low noise levels and zero emission. Each 35-seater bus also has additional facility to accommodate a passenger on a wheelchair. 'The bus has a ramp at the entrance and can tilt a few degrees (towards the door) to enable a passenger in a wheelchair board the vehicle without an escort.
These CNG-electric hybrid buses can run for 300 km at a stretch, and have an intelligent engine that switches from CNG to battery when needed.
The bus automatically switches from one fuel to another with zero driver intervention. The engine too operates on optimum efficiency and is 25 to 30 per cent more fuel-efficient than normal CNG buses. These buses will not only be economical for the long run but are also comfortable, with proper leg space and headrests for passengers. During the expo Volvo Bus will also be launching a special Luxury Coach to enhance tourism in India.
Besides, the Expo claims to have some interesting exhibits like Mobile Classrooms which can be used by corporate, training and skill development institutes to provide training to the targeted individuals in far flung areas without incurring much cost. The vehicle has capacity of accommodating more than 30 students with LCD projector. The vehicle can also be used by NGO's and educational institutions for training, information dissemination etc.
Major exhibitors at BSVE'11 include Tata Motors, Volvo, SML Isuzu, Mahindra Navistar, Force Motors etc along with component manufacturers like Allison Transmission, Firestone TVS, China FAW Group, and many more. The BSVE'11 is aimed at providing an opportunity to network for the producers, users and related industries in facilitating joint ventures, technology up gradation and promoting exports.
The products on display t BSVE include luxury buses, mini buses, school buses, ambulances, police vehicles, concrete mixer, crane etc.
Specific sectors like Airport Authorities, BPOs, Educational Institutions, Hospitals, Home Ministries of State Governments, Police Departments, Municipal Corporations, State Road Transport Corporations, Corporate Business Houses, Tour and Travel Operators, Department of Fire and Safety, Ministry of Defence, and many more from the user community are expected to visit the BSVE 2011.
