Hyderabad population to cross 1 crore by 2015: FAPCCI chief
Hyderabad, July 21 (INN): Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry president VS Raju on Thursday said that the population of Hyderabad is expected to cross 10 million by 2015.
Speaking after inaugurating a Road Show on 'Urban Infra World Expo 2011' on Thursday, Mr Raju said that Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing a rising urban population and the growth of urban areas ' both in number as well as geographical area - over last more than two decades.
He said that according to research study, conducted by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) University, Indian cities have witnessed highest growth for any urban cluster in the world, with Delhi and Mumbai topping the list.
The FAPCCI chief disclosed that India's population rose to 1.21 billion in 2011,in a decade, with 35 per cent of them living in cities, meaning fastest urbanization in the past five decades. The study also says that Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore stand out as incept mega cities with populations ranging from five to seven million, he added.
Mr Raju said that the Business expos and tradeshows are one of the best tools for attracting new leads and connecting with customers and will address the important technical and logistical issues facing the Indian government's ambitious plans to modernize its infrastructure.
Prashant Koshti, GM-Marketing, Jasubhai Media, Mumbai, Gowra Srinivas, Chairman, Urban Infrastructure Committee, FAPCCI, and engineer AR Murthy also spoke at the seminar.
