Telangana industries to observe two-day bandh Hyderabad, Sept 25 (INN): The Telangana Industries Association has called for a 48-hour bandh for all industries located in Telangana region from Sunday-midnight in support of on-going Sakala Janula Samme, the general strike.
According to association president Sudhir Reddy, over 10,000 medium and small enterprises would remain close for two days from Monday onwards. Lakhs of employees engaged by these industries would participate in agitation demanding statehood for Telangana.
However, the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) have opposed the bandh call. FAPCII president VS Raju said that the industry-representative body has always opposed the bandhs of any nature.
Several times FAPCCI appealed to all concerned and also to political parties that no disturbance or obstruction to industrial and economic activity or stoppage of work in industries and commercial establishments should be caused whenever bandh were called as such obstruction or stoppage would entail heavy loss of jobs and hardships to employees, in particular and people in general; enormous loss of production; dislocation of supply chain; and loss of investors' confidence," he said.
The FAPCCI has appealed that the industrial and economic activity should be allowed to function without let or hindrance and that the precious jobs, both short term and long term, are saved.
