Procedures simplified for solar power projects Hyderabad, October 8 (INN): A stage is set by the Andhra Pradesh Government through New Solar Policy-2012 to encourage green power, utilize abundant solar power available and use it for industrial promotion to meet the power requirements of consumers to the maximum extent possible.
The State Government on Monday instructed the NREDCAP, the nodal agency for solar power and renewable energy sources, to complete the registration process within five days after filing of application for solar projects in a simple format prescribed for this purpose.
According to Principal Secretary (Energy) M Sahoo, a very open policy for the first time in respect of open access has been incorporated. The biggest relief has been given in terms of wheeling, transmission and cross subsidy charges and electricity duty has been exempted, he said.
Sahoo said that the present situation prevailing in the State with regard to substantial gap between the demand and supply position of power warns for taking immediate measures to augment production of energy through non-conventional sources on fast track.
Keeping in view the conducive environment present to encourage solar power and also the fact that the production of solar power is less time consuming, the government has decided to give a big boost to solar power generation and Andhra Pradesh got potentiality both in available space wise and in radiation levels on par with Gujarat and Rajasthan, he said.
Before leaving for New Delhi to participate in an international Seminar organized by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the Principal Secretary has reviewed the impact of new solar policy 2012 in a review meeting with AP Transco CMD Hiralal Samariya, Special Secretary to Energy Munindra and NREDCAP VC M Kamalakar Babu.
He said that the government was fully committed to implement the solar policy, which is investor friendly for entrepreneurs to go in a big way.
APTRANSCO/DISCOMs have been mandated to clear the proposal for evacuation of power produced from solar projects within 21 days.
The policy is expected to attract substantial investments for setting up manufacturing facilities, which can generate gainful local employment.
The policy would remain in force till 2017, which will promote the Off-Grid Solar applications to meet the power needs on Stand-alone basis, contribute to overall economic development, employment generation and improve public services.
