SCR GM inaugurates Modernized Railway Control Office

Hyderabad, Oct 28 (INN): South Central Railway General Manager PK Srivastava inaugurated the newly renovated, modernized Control Office of Secunderabad Division here on Tuesday at the Divisional Head Quarters of Secunderabad Division, Sanchalan Bhavan.

The modernized Control Office has been planned extensively to act as the hub to monitor rail operations on Secunderabad Division, which covers several high density rail corridors/sections on the Zone. The conceptual plan for the modern Control Office laid stress on replacement of the old control communication and administrative communication network with state-of-the-art advanced communication systems as well as optimal utilisation of the floor area with a well drawn plan for distinctly earmarked workstations.

The technology up-gradation of the Control Office imbibes salient features for improving effective train controlling/decision making; Efficient Disaster Management arrangements in terms of Conference Hall equipped with Control Office Application, Freight Operations Information System, Coaching Operations Information System, RAILNET & Yard monitoring system (data logger) through Multi screen display system in terms of Video Display Units. The Conference Hall also carries state-of-the-art communication facilities and is Wi-Fi enabled.

The work area of the newly renovated Control Office provides the best in terms of work facilities and energy efficient ambience so as to ensure a stress free work environment. Each Control Cubicle is designed with spacious area, UV protected anti glare glasses for the windows to reduce intensity of sunlight, twin glasses to cut out on outside noise, water proof and sound absorbing thermally insulated aerolite false ceiling which makes the control cubicles sound proof. The centralized air-conditioning is designed to operate according to the load requirement of air conditioning area. Provision for smoke detectors is made to cover the entire control office. The floor area is designed to get the best in terms of natural lighting which is further supplemented by the provision of energy efficient LED based lighting system.

The SCR General Manager complimented the officers and staff of the Division for setting up the best in terms of infrastructure and technology in the newly renovated Control Office. He also expressed confidence that the office will work with minimal of paper usage and the maximum in terms of technology output. G Ravi Kumar, Sr. Divisional Operations Manager, Secunderabad Division, SCR briefed the General Manager on the working system of the Control Office, which handles a very sizeable load of train movements on the Zone.

S.K. Agarwal, Additional General Manager, SCR, J.N. Jha, Chief Operations Manager, SCR, S.K. Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, SCR were amongst the host of senior officials present on the occasion.
