Rajanagaram is TITA Digital Village

Hyderabad, Jan 27 (INN): Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) has taken a new step in its effort to use technology for social good. TITA has partnered with Common Service Centres (CSC) on Saturday that works with the Central government funds to promote e-governance. The next day, TITA and CSC have rolled out 'Digital Ghav' initiative from Rajanagaram village of Wanaparthy District of Telangana on the hands of Wanaparthy MLA Singireddy Niranjan Reddy.

Wanaparthy District Collector Sweta Mohanty who wanted to introduce digital literacy in the schools of the Wanaparthy District approached Telangana IT Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan to assist them in this initiative by involving TITA. Following which TITA team meet the District Collector on January 23 and discussed the matter in detail. In the same direction, CSC which is introducing its centres across Telangana joined hands with TITA on Saturday to work together on digital literacy. The partners immediately started working towards the adoption of villages for this programme.

Singireddy who was keen to begin digital literacy initiatives in his constituency approached TITA and selected Rajanagaram village to start with. In addition to digital literacy other initiatives such as tele-medicine, digital financial literacy, tally and accounting training are also going to be looked at. There will be month-long digital literacy training in the village besides diagnosis of diseases for early detection. CSC is going to choose one village from each district of Telangana to create its centers and spread its activities in all the districts gradually.

Singireddy Niranjan Reddy speaking on the occasion said that he has been working with TITA for a long time. He formally launched TITA's digithon initiative. With about 200 vilunteers, TITA has contributed in the promotion of cashless transactions in the rural areas. Now, with digital village initiative, rural areas will be further benefited.

TITA Global President Sundeep Kumar Makthala said with the CSC partnership, many activities beyond digital literacy will be possible. TITA plans to encourage startups with these digital initiatives as well as integrate Telangana Innovation and Incubation Centres in the CSC centres. This will enable creation of model villages in each district with the adoption of villages. CSC VP Raja Kishore said having worked with TITA in several initiatives in the past, CSC has directly signed the MoU instead of beginning works on a pilot basis.
