Doctors Penalized For Negligence


 
Hyderabad, Feb 23 (INN): Telangana Consumer Information and Redressal Centre came to rescue of a victim whom suffered severe health damage and mental pressure due to the negligence of a Doctor of a famous hospital in Hyderabad. The case was solved in 3 months time and victim was paid Rs. 5.50 Lakh compensation.

On Saturday, Telangana Consumer Affairs Secretary Akun Sabharwal handed over the cheque to the patient.

Maria Saba, resident of Hyderabad got pregnant in December 2017 was seeking medical treatment, supervision and medical advice from a Doctor from a famous hospital every month. On 2018, September 27th she was admitted in the same for delivery. During the child birth process she suffered profuse bleeding due to the complete negligence, carelessness of Doctor and the hospital staff. Further Doctor and the staff did not disclose their mistake and seriousness of patient to hide negligence. After the child birth her health condition was very serious and doctor suggested to shift patient to Fernandez Hospital.

Due to the doctor's negligence complete urinary and motion passage have been severely damaged. The Fernandez Hospital refused to admit the patient as condition was at very dangerous level.

Finally family members admitted Maria Saba in Bristlecone Hospital in Barkatpura on 2018, October 3rd where she was given treated till 10th October and discharged with instructions to undertake complete rest and treatment for 6 months.

Maria Saba and her husband approached Telangana Consumer Information and Redressal Centre on 2018 November 11th and registered case against the Doctor. The patient spent more than Rs. 3 lakhs for the treatment which was due to the negligence of the Doctor and Hospital Staff.

Consumer Information Centre issued notice to the doctor on December 22nd and gave counseling. After the discussion with both the parties Doctor accepted his negligence of treatment and agreed to pay compensation of Rs. 5.50 Lakhs to patient.

Telangana Consumer Information and Redressal Centre is giving free counseling, solving cases and also helping the victims get compensation. Day by day number of complaints is increasing to the Redressal Centre.
