IRCTC introduces special train for pilgrims

Hyderabad, June 16 (INN): The IRCTC will run a special train for the pilgrims in South India covering some of the renowned Hindu sites.

It will run an exclusive AC Tourist Train, for a round trip, from Bangalore and covering Allahabad, Varanasi (Kasi), Gaya, Kolkata, Puri and Konark. The train is to start on 22nd June from Bangalore on its round trip to be terminated at the same place on 30th June.

The Tourist train (starting from Bangalore) is being routed through Chennai and Vijayawada (on onward and return journey) for the convenience of pilgrims of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh so that they can join/detrain the tour from there.

The IRCTC, a Govt. of India Enterprise, has been a pioneer in Rail-based tourism with public-private participation and has been running rail tour packages successfully for the past many years to various places of tourist importance up to the satisfaction of the customers.

Its custom made tourism products have been well received and most sought after by the public at large. IRCTC, it may be stated, has been the preferred choice for many for their travel solutions/needs since it made a foray in the Travel Industry way back in 1999.

This time, in order to provide the pilgrim-tourists with some unique combination of religious tourist destinations, IRCTC launches a train tour by an exclusive 'AC Tourist Train' covering some of the popular Hindu pilgrim destinations in India.

The tourists will have the life time opportunity to bathe in the Triveni Sangam (confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati) in Allahabad, which is considered to be highly auspicious and pious; visit the famous Vishwanath temple and Visalakshi temple in Varanasi (Kasi); have a pinda pradanam at Gaya; visit Dakshineswar Kali temple and Belur Math of the famous nineteenth century saint Ramakrishna Paramhansa; visit Kolkata, the City of Joy.

Also included in the package are visit to the famous Lord Jagannath temple at Puri and the world famous Sun Temple at Konark.

The nine-days itinerary has been designed specially keeping in mind the senior citizens who eagerly seek to visit these religious places. This package will enable them to enjoy an all inclusive and hassle free tour, the IRCTC said in a press release.
