Actors stages rally in support of Venu Condemning the attack on 'Jabardasth' comedian Venu by a group of people, several small screen and film artistes took out a rally to support the actor on Monday. Senior actor Nagababu also took part in the rally, which was taken out from Film Chambers in Film Nagar to Banjara Hills police station along with the team members of 'Jabardasth'.
The participants raised slogans condemning the attack and submitted a memorandum to the Film Chamber secretary. They asked the police to take action against the attackers.
'The intention of the Jabardasth programme is only to make people laugh and provide entertainment. The script writers have no intention of denigrating any caste or group and there is simply no justification for the attack on Venu,' Nagababu told reporters.
People belonging to a particular community had attacked Venu when he came to Ayyappa temple at Film Nagar on Sunday, claiming the 'Jabardasth' programme, which was telecast on December 18 on ETV, had denigrated toddy-tappers and women belonging to that community.
Meanwhile, people of the other community also took out protests justifying their act and demanding action to be taken against Venu and the Jabardasth team.
