Amitabh willing to promote Telangana Hyderabad: 'I spoke to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao a short while ago, he gave me his vision for the State. I promised KCR that whenever Telangana requires my voice or my face for its progress and welfare, I'm always here to support you,' said Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday.
The actor was in Hyderabad to receive ANR National Award, instituted by Akkineni International Foundation. After receiving the award, Bachchan recalled his association with ANR.
'I feel honoured to have received the ANR award. ANR is a legend in his own right and his contribution to cinema is unparalleled. Known for his meticulous work ethics and remarkable talent, ANR reinvented himself and left an unforgettable impression in the hearts of millions of his fans,' said Big B.
Earlier, Bachchan was felicitated by Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu while Telangana Chief Minister KCR presented him a memento and cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
Glorifying the culture and heritage of the city, Amitabh said, 'Hyderabad is a wonderful place and I'm ready to do my bit for the prosperity of the city. Everyone is of the opinion that Bollywood produces more films a year, but the truth is that Tollywood, based in Hyderabad, churns out over 200 films and this is by far the highest in any industry.'
Later, Chief Minister KCR assured full cooperation to the Telugu film industry. That's not all, he also said that the government would hold a meeting with bigwigs of Tollywood to discuss development models and would allay the fears of the industry.
