Modi invites Pawan, Kavitha for Swachha Bharat
Actor Pawan Kalyan who campaigned hard for BJP-TDP during the last election in Andhra Pradesh finally got the nomination for the Swachch Bharat campaign. Many were shocked when PM Narendra Modi ignored Power Star when he challenged many celebrities to take Swach Bharat campaign.
Many expected that Pawan to get one of those first nominations for the program but Modi did not. However they came up with new list and it includes several celebrities from different sectors including Power star Pawan Kalyan's name.
The Union Government on Sunday decided to nominate nine Swachh Bharat Ambassadors each from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. They are from different fields like sports, films, industries and health care. From film industry along with Pawan, legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmayam, veteran actress Akkineni Amala, actor Nitin and lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja were named as brand ambassadors. From politics they choose TDP MP Galla Jayadev and TRS MP Kalvakuntla Kavita.
Four sports persons from the two states, VVS Laxman, Shivlal Yadav, badminton coach Pullela Gopichand and chess player Koneru Hampi figures on the Centre's Swachh Bharat list. BVR Mohan Reddy, JA Chowdary, J Rameswara Rao and GVK Reddy (industry sector), Dr GS Rao (medical field) and Radhakrishna (media) are the others on the list.
