Experiment: The new trend in Tollywood With a lot of talented and young brains entering into the Tollywood film industry Telugu movies are slowly coming out of the clutches of routine formula stories and are taking the experimental path. The films released in 2014 clearly stand as the evidence for the growing trend. The first big budget movie of the last year 1-Nenokkadine has marked the beginning of this culture.
Superstar Mahesh showed his dedication for the script by playing the role of a person suffering from integration disorder, a rare psychological syndrome. Though the movie didn't succeed commercially, it gave an inspiration for other top actors to take the different route. Ram Charan Tej's "Yevadu" which was released during the same time also came out with the concept which wasn't tried earlier in Tollywood.
The biggest experimental film that was critically acclaimed and received a huge success in 2014 is Akkineni family's silver screen wonder "Manam". With a never ever seen before concept Manam's success showed that Telugu audience will always accept meaningful experiments. Movies like Prathinidhi, Drusyam, Run Raja Run, Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya, Karthikeya and Rowdy Fellow also show the growing pace of experimental flicks in Telugu cinema.
2015 also promises to continue the visual treat for audience with a lot of experimental movies in reserve. The first movie coming in such category is Nikhil's "Surya Vs Surya". Recently released trailer shows that Nikhil is playing the role of a person suffering from rare genetic disorder. According to the story his character cannot face sunlight at all. Sundeep Kishan's upcoming flick "Beeruva" story also revolves around a loner who only has a Beeruva as his friend with which he shares everything.
Nani's upcoming movie "Yevade Subramanyam" will also revolve around an unexpected concept, says the director of the movie. Venkatesh who always tries something different already said that he will come up with the untouched concepts in the tollywood in this year.
If the trend continues at the same pace tollywood may soon take a new turn and could leave its footprint on India cinema. With a lot of talented people in the industry telugu audience may soon witness that golden era.
