American honour for Mirchi girl Actress Richa Gangopadhyay sizzled in Prabhas' previous blockbuster movie, Mirchi. She last appeared in Nagarjuna starrer Bhai. The Bengali beauty has now received prestigious recognition from an American association. She was presented with a memento and a certificate in a special event on Sunday (Jun 14). The Michigan India Hall of Fame Award is presented for showing excellence in various fields.
Richa is a US born and she is regular participant at all the beauty pageants. She finished in the top ten in the Miss India USA competitions, winning a smaller prize for Miss Congeniality. She also won the Miss Michigan pageant and was later crowned Miss India USA 2007.
Director Sekhar Kammula found her and gave her a chance in his political drama film, Leader opposite Daggubati Rana. The movie did reasonably well but she did not get good offers later in Telugu. She acted in movies like Nagavalli, Mirapakaay, Sarocharu and Mirchi but never did she manage to make a major mark on audience.Currently, she took break from films and is pursuing her higher studies in Michigan.
