Oscar race: Baahubali lost to Court Critically acclaimed Marathi film 'Court' was selected as India's official entry to the Best Foreign Language category of the 2016 Academy Awards(Oscar awards). 17-member jury which was headed by veteran actor-filmmaker Amol Palekar watched several movies and finally votes for Court.'After watching several films from all Indian languages, the committee has chosen this film.
According to reports jury watched several films such as' "PK", "Masaan", "Mary Kom", "Haider", "Kaaka Muttai", "Baahubali" and "Kuttram Kadithal''.
'Court' was directed by Debutant Chaitanya Tamhane's and it' narrates story of the trial of an ageing folk singer. Court was screened in 19 national and international film festivals and it picked' up 16 awards. Court was named the Best Picture at the National film awards this year. It also premiered at the Venice International Film Festival last year.'The 88th Academy Awards (Oscar awards) ceremony will be held on'February 28, 2016.
