North Andhra emerging as global destination, says union minister Visakhapatnam: Union Minister of Civil Aviation, K. Rammohan Naidu on Saturday said Andhra Pradesh is emerging as a global destination, leveraging its strengths in infrastructure, tourism, and industry.

Speaking at the CII Swarnandhra Conference 2024, Rammohan Naidu highlighted the state's progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
He said the state's youth are driving the growth story, with young leaders like IT Minister Nara Lokesh making significant contributions. He praised the Chief Minister's focus on decentralised development, which is benefiting all regions of the state. "The state government's vision for Swarnandhra 2047 is on track, with several initiatives underway to promote economic growth and development," Naidu said.
The Union Minister highlighted the North Andhra region's transformation, citing its emergence as a hub for industry and tourism. "Once lagging behind, North Andhra is now emerging as a global destination," he said. He attributed this growth to the government's focus on infrastructure development, including the expansion of airports, ports, and highways.
He also emphasized the state's potential in the IT sector, with companies like Google showing interest in setting up operations in Andhra Pradesh. "The IT sector is expected to play a major role in the state's economic growth," he said.
Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh, Muralikrishna Gannamaneni in his opening address, said, Andhra Pradesh has continued to strengthen its position as an emerging industrial destination in the country. With its strategic coastline, strong port-led infrastructure, industrial corridors, and progressive policy initiatives, the state is attracting growing interest from investors across sectors.
Chairman, CII Southern Region, Chairman & Managing Director, Muthoot Fincorp Ltd, Thomas John Muthoot in his keynote address said, Southern India has historically played a vital role in India's economic progress, and states across the region continue to drive innovation, industrialization, and technological advancement. Andhra Pradesh is an integral part of this regional growth story. With continued investments in infrastructure, logistics, and industrial clusters, the state is well positioned to further strengthen its role in global value chains and attract technology-driven investments. At the same time, the global economy is undergoing rapid transformation driven by Artificial Intelligence and frontier technologies. Technologies such as AI, Internet of Things, robotics, advanced analytics, and digital platforms are redefining the way industries operate and compete. For states like Andhra Pradesh, embracing these technologies can significantly enhance industrial productivity, improve efficiency, and strengthen competitiveness in global markets.
As many as 65 companies were given away industrial safety excellence awards at the annual meeting of the CII.
