Start Polavaram construction: North Andhra JAC
Visakhapatnam, Oct 30 (INN): North Andhra Political Joint Action Committee on Sunday demanded that the State Government immediately initiate the construction of Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project.
Addressing a day-long cycle rally near Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation's Gandhi statue, NA-JAC convenor Rama Rao said that the Polavaram would not harm anyone in the State.
He rubbished the claims of Telangana Rashtra Samithi and other political groups who claimed that the project would affect the Telangana region.
Stating that the Polavaram project would benefit thousands of farmers in the north Andhra districts, Rama Rao demanded that the government should take immediate measures to resolve the controversies surrounding the project.
Requesting the political parties not to politicise the project, he said the construction of the project should be resumed immediately.
