AU hosting mega cultural fete to mark centenary celebrations Dy CM Pawan Kalyan to attend valedictory on April 8
Visakhapatnam: Andhra University is hosting a Mega Cultural Fest 2026 from April 6 to 8 as a part of its Centenary celebrations. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan will attend the valedictory celebration on April 8.
The three-day event will feature a diverse lineup of activities, including musical nights, live concerts, cycling and walkathons, drone and laser shows, DJ nights, talent shows, flower shows, and cultural programmes.
The fest will kick off on Monday with a cycling event and plantation drive, followed by live bands and cultural performances in the evening, with Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha as the chief guest. On April 7, MP M. Sribharat will attend as the chief guest, and the evening will feature cultural programs and a musical concert by Vagdevi. The final day, April 8, will include a Walkathon and prize distribution by Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan.
The cultural festival aims to foster leadership qualities and teamwork among students, with participation from Andhra University and its affiliated colleges. Speaking to media persons AU Vice-Chancellor G.P. Rajasekhar emphasised that the fest is a celebration of innovation and creativity, essential for holistic development and shaping future leaders.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the Mega Cultural fest is being organised on a massive scale at the AU Engineering College Grounds, involving students from the AU campus and its affiliated colleges. He invited the citizens of Visakhapatnam to attend the event, witness the students' talent, and encourage them.
Cultural Fest Chairman N. Vijay Mohan shared the schedule, stating that the festivities will kick off on April 6 at 7 AM with a cycling event from the AU Convention Center to Rishikonda. This will be followed by a plantation drive. In the evening, the main stage at the Engineering College Grounds will host live bands and cultural performances, including Thappeta Gullu, yoga demonstrations, performances by the 'AU United' student group, dances by international students, and a musical night. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha will grace the evening as the Chief Guest.
On the second day (April 7th), the Engineering College will host Rangoli competitions, salad decoration, and an 'Ethnic Day' photo booth contest. The evening stage will feature cultural programs by students, a musical concert by renowned singer Vagdevi, and cultural dances by foreign students. MP M. Sribharat will attend as the Chief Guest.
On the final day (April 8th), a Walkathon will be organized starting at 7:000 from the AU Convention Center. The evening highlights include live band performances, cultural shows by AU students, Dhimsa dance, Kolatam, and Puli Vesham. Cultural performances by the AU United Club and students from affiliated colleges will also take place. Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan will present prizes to the winners.
