Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on road to recovery, says Kumaraswamy By G Janardhana Rao
Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL) is on the path to recovery, with the Central government assuring full support to revive the plant and make it a profitable venture. This was stated by Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, during his visit to the plant on Monday.

Kumaraswamy, along with Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, reviewed the plant's progress and inspected various sections, including the Coke Oven Unit and Blast Furnace-3, which was restarted on June 27, 2025, as part of the plant's revival efforts.
Speaking at a review meeting, Kumaraswamy assured the plant's management and workers of the Central government's full support to revive the plant and make it a profitable venture. He directed officials to take necessary steps to increase production and help achieve the country's target of 300 million tonnes by 2030.
Srinivasa Varma said that the plant's turnaround was a result of the Central government's efforts and the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasised the importance of the plant's role in achieving the country's steel production targets and assured the workers of the government's support.
The plant's CMD, Manish Raj Gupta, welcomed the ministers and presented a comprehensive report on the plant's current production status, progress, and future goals.
According to officials, the plant has been making profits for the past three months, thanks to the special package announced by the central government. The plant's production capacity is expected to increase significantly in the coming months, with the restart of Blast Furnace-3 and other revival efforts.
The visit is seen as a significant step towards reviving the plant and boosting the country's steel industry. The ministers' assurance of support is expected to boost the morale of the plant's workers and management.
The plant's revival is also expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, with the creation of new job opportunities and increased economic activity in the region.
The central government's efforts to revive the plant are in line with its vision to boost the country's steel industry and achieve a production capacity of 300 million tonnes by 2030.
