TDF celebrates Bathukamma and Dasara in Dallas
Dallas-Fortworth, Texas: Telangana Development Forum (TDF-USA), Dallas Team presented the biggest ever festival gathering for "Dallas Fortworth Bathukamma & Dasara Sambaralu" with support from Local Telugu Association, TANTEX.
Invited Dignitaries to the event included City of Plano Mayor Hon. Phil Dyer, Government of Andhra Pradesh Representative Honble Sri Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Minister for IT & Sports, Sri Prakash Javadekar, MP, Sri Gutha Sukhender Reddy, MP, Sri T Harish Rao, MLA, Sri Errabelli Dayakar Rao, MLA.
Prof. Kodandram and Prajakavi Dr. AndeShree, were special guests gracing the occasion.
This event was attended by over 5,000 people, lasted more than six hours and with unsurpassed hospitality and colorful bathukammalu and Jammi pooja.
The stage was huge, the weather was perfect. The event started at 4:30 PM and a grand Bathukamma event unfolded for hundreds of women who took part in singing and celebrating to rythmic Bathukamma tunes. Elderly ladies who sang folk songs orally and without notes sang the tunes live on stage while many others joined in. The Amphitheater in Plano reverberated as the songs of women filled the stadium and the park.
City of Plano Mayor, Hon. Phil Dyer was received by and Kalyan Durg presented the proclamation on behalf of Mayor.
After the conclusion of Bathukamma celebration, a procession of women left to immerse Bathukammalu in a creek behind the park. After the immersion, women took the blessings of Gauri.
