Nannaya University gets 80 acres land


 
Hyderabad, Nov 18 (INN): The long pending problem of land acquisition for Nannaya University near Rajahmundry was solved by handing over 80 acres of land by the Collector East Godavari district to the in-charge Vice Chancellor of the Adikavi Nannaya University at Velugubanda village near Rajahmundry on Thursday. To mark this occasion a special function was held at the site of the university on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion the in-charge vice chancellor Prof B Satyanarayana said that this problem was for the last four years, initially it was agreed to acquire 300 acres for the university which was due to objections raised by the land owners and some of them went to courts, it was delayed.

He appreciated the efforts of the district administration in perusing the land owners and also lauded the land owners for their cooperation in solving the problem. The Vice chancellor said that the district administration acquired 130 acres now totalling an amount of Rs 16.75 as compensation which was paid from the university fund as per the resolution of the executive council.

He further said that the Rajahmundry rural MLA Chandana Ramesh also helped in land acquisition by allotting his land near national highway. He said that the construction of the buildings would start immediately and the administrative block would be expected by the starting of next academic year. The VC also said that the blocks would be named after philanthropists who donates money for the buildings and added that as per the University Act, 200 acres of land required for establishing university. The VC also requested the Collector to allot more land for second campus.

District Collector M Ravi Chandra said that necessary efforts were put by the district administration to acquire the required land for the university by avoiding all hurdles and appreciated the efforts of Joint Collector K Sashidar and the team of Revenue officials in Rajahmundry division in acquiring the land for the university.

He said that construction of the university buildings would be started soon with experts and the long pending dreams for construction of building has achieved by acquiring the land. In this connection the district Collector handed over the land of 80.67 acres to the University Vice Chancellor as first phase and the Vice Chancellor felicitated the Collector, Joint Collector and the RDO Rajahmundry in this function. Registrar of the university NB Mohan Rao, Principal of the Universty College Suresh Verma, professors S Taki, Ramaneswari, RDO Ch Vinay Mohan and the East zone DySP A Prabhakaraa Rao and others attended.
