Srisailam bracing up for Maha Sivaratri
Kurnool, Feb 7: Arrangements are on full swing for the Maha Sivaratri Brahmotsavams, to be held in the temple town of Srisailam from February 13 to 23. About 10 lakh devotees are expected during the Brahmostavam.
'The Devasthanam has earmarked Rs 20 lakhs for the Brahmotsavams and efforts are on to provide amenities to the visiting devotees,' Devasthanam Chairman Immidisetti Koteswara Rso said.
Focus is laid on drinking water, sanitation and transportation. A special medical team will be set up with 9 medical camps and four ambulances for the medicare.
On the sanitation front, the area is divided into 10 zones and 33 sectors which will be manned by 740 personnel, of which 80 belong to Devasthanam. RTC will run 1,300 special buses, 'he said.
Sunnipenta, Sakthiganapati, Hatakeswaram areas will have special parking zones. Repair works to the road from Nallamala has been taken up to enable devotees walking up to the temple from Nallamala.
Expert divers, numbering 180, will be stationed at Srisailam, and Patala Ganga near Lingalagattu and four fire engines with 52 personnel will be on call,' he said.
On the cultural front, two additional stages were set up and 94 verities of programmes would be conducted. Additional counters would be opened for darshan and laddus. This time about 30 lakh laddus would be made available, 'he said.
Security would be beefed up with a special control room, mobile cranes, barricades, CC Cameras, Superintendent of Police Sivaprasad said.
In wake of the milling rush of devotees, Sparsha darsanam of the Lord along with special pujas would be stopped from Feburary 17 to 23. Only the general darshan will be available, temple Executive Officer, V Hanumatha Rao said.
