Complete Mahboobnagar projects by March: Harish Rao Hyderabad, Oct 16 (INN): Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has directed the contractors to complete all pending irrigation projects of Mahabubnagar district by March 2016.
Accompanied with senior officials, the minister on Friday reviewed the works on Bheema, Kalvakurthy, Nittampadu and Koyal Sagar projects. Speaking on the occasion he said several thousand acres of land in Mahabubnagar district could be irrigated with early completion of all pending irrigation projects. He warned the officials and contractors for delay in execution of works. He said action would be taken against the agencies who did not initiated despite getting tenders.
Harish Rao informed that the State Government issued GO Ms. No. 123 to acquire lands for irrigation projects. He asked the officials to impose the GO and acquire required lands for the projects. He also threatened to take action if officials cause delay in acquiring land. He said all affected people should be paid compensation as per market rates.
The minister said that by 2016, 2.03 lakh acres of land could be irrigated with Bheema project, 3.04 lakh acres through Kalwakurthy, 2 lakh acres through Nittampadu and about 60,000 acres could be irrigated through Koyal Sagar project.
