TRS is anti farmer, says Digvijay

Hyderabad, Oct 20 (INN): AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Tuesday advised Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to emulate the Karnataka Government in providing relief to the farmers.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Digvijay Singh said that the TRS Government has completely failed to fulfill the promises that it made with the people during elections. He said that the government has completely neglected the agriculture sector which led a rise in cases of suicide by farmers. He said instead of waiving off crop loans up to Rs. 1 lakh, the government divided the repayment into four installments which aggravated the problem of farmers. He claimed that the previous UPA regime waived of Rs. 72,000 crore of crop loans at one take which facilitated the farmers to apply for fresh loans and other benefits.

Digvijay Sngh said that KCR has been emulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi in not fulfilling the promises that he made with the people. He said KCR should follow the Karnataka model where the affected farmers have been provided exemplary assistance. He said that the Karnataka Government took care of the families of those farmers who committed suicide. He said KCR has failed to fulfill other promises like giving three acres of land to Dalits or 12% reservation for Muslims.

The Congress leader also expressed concern over rising communalism across the country. He said that the BJP-led NDA Government was flaring up communal tension so as to hide its failures and divert people's attention. He said that the BJP Government has spoiled country's relationship with all its neighbours. Contending Modi's contention of him treating Sardar Patel as role model, he reminded that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had imposed a ban on RSS. Similarly, Netaji Subhash Chandrabose and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar were totally against communalism.

Commenting on Special Status for Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh questioned the silence of both Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Leader of Opposition Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy against the Prime Minister who is not implementing the Act which was passed by the previous UPA regime. He also alleged that huge chunks of lands of Amravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, were being handed over to foreign companies on 99 years lease. He asked whether Indian companies lack potential and skills to execute the project by importing foreign technology.

Digvijay Singh also reiterated that Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen was indirectly helping the BJP by contesting Bihar elections.

TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikrarmarka, Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav were also present.
