PM to inaugurate integrated terminal building at Tirupati Airport New Delhi, Oct 21 (INN): The inauguration of new integrated terminal building Tirupati Airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for Thursday.
Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister of Civil Aviation P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Dr. Mahesh Sharma, AP Environment Minister B. Gopala Krishna Reddy and Lok Sabha MP Dr. Vara Prasadarao Velagapalli will also participate in the function.
The New Integrated Terminal Building with Car Parking and Apron for 2 Nos., Code 'D' and one no. Code 'C' type of aircraft with link Taxi and associated infrastructure at Tirupati Airport has been built at a cost of Rs. 191 crores approximately.
The Terminal building has been designed, driving inspiration from the shape of Garuda (Eagle) in-flight with its wings flapping/spread in air, Garuda being the carrier of Lord Vishnu (Shri Balaji) Whose temple is popular in India as well as abroad, the Terminal Building with the shape of Garuda in flight instantly connects with passenger visiting this temple city for religious pilgrimage.
The Integrated Terminal Building capable to handle 500 Domestic and 200 International Passengers at a time is a steel and glass structure having state-of-art modern passenger friendly facilities and services such as Baggage Handling System compatible with Inline X-ray machine integrated with Departure Conveyor System, incline Arrival Baggage, claim carousels, Passenger Boarding Brides with Visual Docking Guidance System, Central Air-conditioning, Public Address system, Fire Alarm System, Flight Information Display System (FIDS), CCTV for surveillance, Check-in-counters with Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE), Car Parking etc.,
Energy efficient and eco friendly material like Fly Ash Bricks, Low heat gain glass, LED lighting and energy efficient chillers etc., are used in the building for obtaining '4 - star' rating of GRIHA.
The new Terminal Building has a peak hour handling capacity of 700 passengers built at area of 16,500 sqm + 5,500 sqm (Basement). The other salient features of the Terminal Building includes 18 Nos. Check-in-Counters, Immigration Counters 4 Nos. (Dep) + 6 Nos. (Arrival), Custom Counters 1 Nos. ( Dep.) + 4 Nos. (Arrival), Baggage Conveyors 1 No. in Departure area, Baggage Claim Carousels 3 Nos. ( 2 for Domestic Arrival + 1 for International Arrival), VIP Lounge 2 Nos., CIP Lounge 1 No., car Parking 250 cars + 5 Buses, 75 Taxi Parking + 25 VIP Parking, PBB 2 Nos., Elevators 5 Nos., Escalators 4 Nos.
