EC registers Pawan's Janasena Party Without Symbol Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena has been officially registered as a political party by the Election Commission of Telangana state. Telangana Election Commission on Wednesday recognized Jana Sena as political party and an official confirmation was received from EC.
"The Telangana State Election Commission hereby registers the Janasena Party as a political party without a reserved symbol. The registration shall not entitle the party for reservation of any exclusive symbol for it. However, the candidates duly set up by this party in local body elections (held on party basis) will be entitled to preferential treatment over independent candidates in allotment of free symbols," the Commission said in its order.
Jana sena was formally launched on 14 March. Instead of contesting elections, Pawan Kalyan went on to express his support to political parties such as the BJP and TDP.
With the registration, the party can now field candidates in the upcoming GHMC polls expected to be held this year. The new party is yet to form its committees across both the states.
Election Commission of India has already completed the registration formalities for the party and now Telangana Election Commission responded positively. Pawan Fans & Jana Sena Activists welcomed the development.
