KTR launches works for two major projects Hyderabad, Oct 30 (INN): Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao and Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy laid the foundation stone for two major initiatives at Madhapur on Friday.
The projects include Re-carpeting (Black Tapping) of 7.7 kms Roads in Madhapur, TSIIC-IALA at the cost of Rs 16 crore and 1000 mm dia MS dedicated water pipeline from Rai Durgam Junction tapping KDWSP Ring Main-1 to Madhapur new 5ML GLSR at the cost of Rs 25crore to improve water supply to Madhapur.
Addressing the 300 plus gathering immediately after foundation stone laid, KTR informed that the State Government was planning a Suspension Bridge over Durgam Cheruvu near Inorbit mall to connect Road No 45 to ease the traffic congestion. Soon tenders will be floated for this Rs 175crore project, he said.
Three-and-a-half lakh street lamps in the jurisdiction of GHMC will have LED lights fixed up very soon. This we will take up at a cost of Rs 500crore. This we may start from Sherlingampally Constituency, he said. He also informed that government was planning to supply four LED bulbs to the each of the 20 lakh households in the GHMC limits. It will cost us Rs 80crore. Whether we charge or give free of cost, those details will have to be worked out he said.
Responding to an appeal made by local MLA Arekapudi Gandhi that there lacked a coordination between the various government departments, KTR said, It also pains him to know that there was no coordination with various government departments. Hence, he suggest to set up Joint Working Group under each circle comprised of key departments such as Water Works, GHMC, R&D, Electricity and other.
The government has also called for tenders to lay 1000kms of roads at a cost of Rs 575 crore. Of this, nearly 400kms will be a white topping road, similar to what is laid at Road No 10 in Banjara Hills. We are likely to spend Rs 220crore on the same, KTR added.
Though government directions were already issued making water harvesting pits compulsory in every apartment, but is hardly implemented. We will take it up us a movement, KTR said.
"We will strive hard to make Hyderabad a truly global city. This government is committed forethe same," he told the gathering.
These two projects were necessitated on a war footing basis because Madhapur has witnessed severe water crisis couple of months back. Where some IT consultants were forced to work from homes informed speakers CV Anand, Commissioner of Police Cyberabad; Janardhan Reddy, MD of HMWS & SB; Srikanth of NASSCOM; Vijay Ragineni from Tech Mahindra and Bharani of Cyberabad Security Council who spoke on the occasion.
Madhapur has 297 major IT companies. People from 29 states of India work here said Arekapuri Gandhi the local MLA. Nearly four lakh IT employees work in this IT Carridor. Due to developments, it is expected to add few lakh more employees in coming years. Hence, the need to improve infrastructure facilities in the IT Carridor, he informed.
According to HMWS&SB, they supply water to the entire Madhapur area. The present water supply in the area is once in a three days and HMWSSB is able to supply only 30 to 40 per cent of the agreed quantity in view of lack of storage capacity and poor infrastructure and wide gap between the supply and demand for the present 110 IT companies.
In view of the above HMWSSB formulated some proposals duly integrating with the KDWSP PH-III which is recently commissioned with an augmentation capacity of 90MGD(Millioin Gallons per Day)(409 ML). The present water supply demand for Madhapur is 8 MGD(Million Gallons per Day or 36 ML), present supply 5MGD(23 ML).
The additional quantity of water to an extent of 10MGD(45 ML) can be drawn to Madhapur on completion of the proposed work of 'Manufacturing, Supply, Laying, Jointing, Testing and Commissioning of 1000mm dia MS dedicated pipeline from Rai Durgam Junction tapping KDWSP Ring Main-I to Madhapur new 5 ML GLSR for improvement of water supply to Madhapur TSIIC IT Sectors, proposed Games City and other areas under Madhapur Section costing Rs 25crore, for which Government of Telangana IT Departmetn has accorded Administrative Sanction and the work will be grounded at the earliest. On completion of the above pipeline work, the water supply to the entire Madhapur area will be improved substantially for the present period and future expansion plans of IT as well as domestic and commercial sectors.
Mahender Reddy highlighted various development works taken up by the government.
Speaking on the occasion , HMWSSB Managing Director Janaradhar Reddy said that there are no rains. Even if rains are no one helps rain water and harvest it through pits. If the rainwater fallen on a house harvested it will take care of the water needs of the family for four months in the year he said. Unfortunately, no one cares to harvest the rain water. The all sources of drinking water to city such as Singur, Himayatsagar, Manjira and Gandipet are dried. Besides bringing Krishna water to the city, we additionally are bringing Godavari water from a distance of 186 kms he said. By December 15, this year Godavari water will reach the city he said. This will be the upper limit, he added.
C.V. Anand added that IT industries need 5000 Kilo Liters of water every day and additionally another 5000 kilo liters is required for the people living in the Madhapur area.
