GHMC polls process to be completed by Jan 31 Hyderabad, Nov 2 (INN): The Telangana Government on Monday gave an assurance before the High Court that it would complete the entire process of elections for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) by January 31.
The State Government gave this assurance while responding to a petition filed by Citizens for Good Governance before the High Court. In its counter, the State Government said that the process got delayed due to delimitation of GHMC wards and reservations. The Advocate General informed that the State Government has already issued a notification on delimitation and the next step would be reservation of wards. He said linking of EPIC with Aadhar Cards also delayed the process to some extent.
Meanwhile, following High Court's direction, the GHMC Commissioner also filed an affidavit assuring that the election process will be completed by January 31. Earlier, the court had set December 15 as deadline to hold the GHMC elections.
