Guru Nanak Devji's 546th birthday celebrations from Nov 21 Hyderabad, Nov 19 (INN): The most important and major festival of Sikh Community across the world, the 546th birthday celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikh Religion, will be celebrated on a grand and mammoth scale in Hyderabad from 21st to 25th November.
To mark the important occasion, the Prabhandak Committees of Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj have joined hands to make the celebrations a grand success.
In this context, two colourful "Nagar Keertans" (Holy Processions) will be taken out from Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad on November 21 (Saturday) and another on November 23 (Monday) by Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj at 4 pm.
On the day of "Prakash Utsav" (Birthday Celebrations), which falls on November 25 (Wednesday), a grand "Vishaal Deewan" (Mass Congregation) will be held at Nizam College Grounds, Basheerbagh, from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm on November 25.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Prabhandak Committee Presidents S. Baldev Singh Bagga (GSS) and S. Balbir Singh Bagga (GSGSS) and Secretaries, S Avatar Singh (GSS) and S. Gurdeep Singh (GSGSS) others members said that a mass "Nagar Keertan" (Holy Procession) will be taken out on a grand scale on November 21 at around 3.30 pm from Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad and proceed via Natraj talkies, Clock Tower, BATA, Kingsway, Monda Market and reach Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad in the evening.
Over 10,000 to 15,000 devotees will take part in the procession. Guru Granth Sahebji (the revered Holy Scripture of the Sikhs) will be carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with ``Nishaan Sahebans'' (Religious Flags). The Procession will be marked by rendering of Shabad Keertans (Holy Hymns) by the Jatha Tera Jatha and Keerthani Jathas of men and women. Besides that ``Panj Pyaras'' (five beloved ones) in their traditional attire will be the cynosure of attraction all along the procession.
The major attraction of the procession will be the display of "Gatka", a famous Sikh martial art forms and other breathtaking sword exercises all along the procession by Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha and Special Gatka Party from Punjab Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha from Amritsar will also exhibit their special Gatka skills.
Another colourful NAGAR KEERTAN will be taken out on November 23 from Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj and will pass through Siddiambar Bazar, Jambagh, Putli Bowli, Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda and reach back Gurudwara Singh Sabha in the evening.
As the main Birthday Celebrations of Guru Nanak Devji falls on November 25, a "Vishaal Deewan" will be held at Nizam College Grounds, Basheerbagh from 11 am to 4 pm on November 25, where over 25,000 to 30,000 Sikh Devotees and other community faiths will converge at the programme.
The event will be marked by the recitations of Gurbani Keertans (Holy Hymns) by the reputed Ragi Jathas (religious preachers) who are being specially invited from various parts of the country to render shabad keertans. Bhai Joginder Singhji Riar (Ludhiana), Bhai Surinder Singhji Jodhpuri, Bhai Nagender Singhji, Bhai Hari Singh Hazuri Ragi Jathas, Bhai Jagdev SIngh and Bhai Tajender Singhji other reputed Ragi Jathas will recite shabad keertans and Kathas and throw light on the teachings of Sikh Gurus.
After the culmination of the congregation Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen) will be served to the devotees.
Night Keertan Darbars will be organised on November 24 (Tuesday) at Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad from 7.30 pm to 11 pm. Another Night Keertan Darbar will be organised at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj on November 25 (Wednesday) from 9 pm to 2.30 am in which above famous Ragi Jathas will recite Gurubani keertans.
The Sikh leaders informed that Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao had promised to give Rs. 1 crore and three acres land for the construction of South India's largest Gurudwara. They said two locations in Gachibowli area have been shortlisted and one of them would be finalised soon.
