KCR reviews pending irrigation projects Hyderabad, Nov 20 (INN): Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao reviewed the status of pending irrigation projects in the State in a high-level meeting at the Secretariat on Friday.
Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Principal Secretaries S Narsing Rao (CMO), Pradeep Chandra (Finance) and Shailender Kumar Joshi (Irrigation), Irrigation Department Chief Engineer Muralidhar and other senior officials attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the State Government was taking steps to fill the vacant posts in the irrigation and other departments. He said besides completing the pending projects, the government was giving priority to the construction of projects like Palamur, Dindi, Kaleshwaram-Pranahita and Damugudem. He said unlike past when construction of each project used to take several years, the State Government wants an irrigation project to get completed within two-three years. He asked officials to identify and clear all the obstacles in the construction of projects.
The Chief Minister has expressed satisfaction over the pace of land acquisition for the irrigation projects. He assured that bills for contractors would be released on regular basis. He said that the State Government has allocated Rs. 25,000 crore in the annual budget and a policy would be made to ensure that the funds were spent by the irrigation department itself.
