68.59 per cent turnout in Warangal by-polls Hyderabad, Nov 21 (INN): About 68.59% of polling was reported in the by-election to Warangal (SC) Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday.
The polling, which began at 7 AM, concluded at 5 PM and was by and large peaceful. With 23 candidates in the fray, it was a multi-cornered contest primarily between TRS candidate P Dayakar, former Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana (Congress), Dr. P Devaiah (BJP-TDP combine) and YSRCP's N Suryaprakash.
The polling percentage was 75.55% in Station Ghanpur, 76.51% in Palakurthy, 76.69% in Parakal, 48.03% in Warangal West, 62.21% in Warangal East, 71.16% in Wardhannapet and 70.10% in Bhupalpalli. Of 15,09,671 voters in the constituency, 68.59% exercised their franchise at 1,778 polling stations.
The counting of votes will take place on November 24.
