TS Govt opposes detention system: Kadiyam Hyderabad, Nov 22 (INN): Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiyam Srihari said that the Telangana Government was against the introduction of detention system in school education.
Addressing the Women Teachers' National Convention at Sundaraiyya Vignana Kendram here on Sunday, the Deputy CM said that the Central Government was drafting a new education policy wherein detention is being proposed for students who fail to perform better in their existing class. He said that the Centre had sought views of all the States and the Telangana Government has registered its opposition for the proposal.
Kadiyam said that the detention systems would affect the students belonging to the weaker sections as they might discontinue the studies if not promoted to higher classes. However, he stressed the need to strengthen the school education system across the country.
