Planning to introduce private institutions bill: KCR
Hyderabad, Nov 26 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao informed that the Telangana Government was proposing to introduce Private Institution Bill to enable establishment of private universities in the State.
Speaking after inaugurating the new state-of-the-art campus of Rockwell International School at Kokapet here on Thursday, KCR said that he has asked Deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari to study the proposed law which could allow private institutions to set up universities in the State. He congratulated the management of Rockwell for establishing a second campus with international standards. Education is such a wealth no one can steal, said K. Chandrashekar Rao.
Earlier addressing the gathering, Kadiyam Srihari said that the Chief Minister had instructed in the past that free education standards must be on par with the best of the best private institutions. The poor must get high quality education, he said.
Prof. Todd Walker said child of today is an adult of tomorrow. They must be given high quality education.
The Chief Minister also released 'Rockwell Year Book' for the year 2014-2015.
Rockwell International School started its journey in 2010 with a branch in Jubilee Hills with just six students. Now it has close to 500 in its sixth year of operations.
The new campus is spread across 2.5 acres and one lakh sq foot area. The new premises has capacity of accommodating 1500 students. It is affiliated to CBSE as well as Cambridge. The school will commence from coming academic year. The new school has already commenced admissions.
The inaugural function was also attended by Deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari, Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy, Australia's Federation University Vice-Chancellor Prof Todd Walker, MLA Ganesh Bigala, Ranga Reddy District Collector Raghunandan Rao and Cyberabad Commissioner C.V. Anand. Well over 1,000 guests, Jayaprakash Rao, Senior Principle, students and parents of Rockwell International School, Jubilee Hills were among the many participated in the inaugural function.
