Five dead, 17 serious after consuming liquor in Vijayawada Bar
Five people died on Monday after consuming illicit liquor in Vijayawada town of Andhra Pradesh. According to police, 17 others are stated to be in critical conditions. The incident took place on Monday morning at a bar in Krishna Lanka area of Vijayawada in Krishna district.
According to police around 23 people collapsed in the bar after allegedly consuming cheap liquor at Swarna Bar & Restaurant in M Hotel on Monday. All of them were rushed to a government hospital. Out of total five dead two of them collapsed immediately in the bar the very next minute they consumed the liquor. This shows that what they drunk is totally spurious
The victims who were identified as daily wage workers immediately fell ill after consuming cheap liquor at a bar. Excise department officials siezed the bar immediately and the police shifted the affected people to hospital.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the incident and has ordered an inquiry into the incident. AP CM instructed the officials to provide the best treatment to those who are battling for life in hospital. The government ordered a probe into the incident. Excise Minister Kollu ravindra said a decision on paying compensation to the families of the victims would be taken after a detailed inquiry into the tragedy.
