Sachin Breaks Silence; Asks His First Question In Parliament Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar asked his first question in Rajya Sabha while breaking his three years long silence in the upper house of Parliament.Sachin Tendulkar who became a Rajya Sabha member on June 3, 2012, decided to break his 3-year-long silence in the Parliament with a written question to the Ministry of Railways. He asked question about Metro rails.
'Will the Minister of Railways be pleased to state the rationale behind creating a new zone for Kolkata Metro and whether it can be replicated in other cities such as Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi that also have similar suburban rail services; the criteria that a suburban railway system must fulfill to enable it to be notified as a separate zone; and whether the above three cities fulfill that criteria and are eligible for being notified as separate zones?' asked Tendulkar in a written form for which he had received a reply.
The Railways Ministry replied to the master blaster that the Kolkata metro service is a one-of-a-kind stand-alone system on Indian Railways (IR), which operates only Metro services.
Another question was also raised by him on the issue of changes in provisions for issuing of driving licenses. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is scheduled to reply on Monday.
