Will never quit Congress, reiterates Danam Hyderabad, Dec 7 (INN): Ending all speculations, Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president Danam Nagender on Monday reiterated that he was not joining the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Speculations were rife that Danam would be announcing his entry into TRS after having a breakfast with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. According to sources, the proposed breakfast was put off following KCR's refusal to accept some conditions proposed by Danam Nagender. He reportedly sought an assurance on Mayor's post and confirmation on candidature of at least 25 followers from various municipal divisions. However, KCR rejected all the conditions and conveyed that Danam could make all such proposals only after joining the party. Further, Danam was told he would be inducted into the party by either K. Keshav Rao or Dharampuri Srinivias and KCR would not be present in the function.
Amidst various reports of Danam's entry into TRS, his followers erected huge cutouts at main junctions in the city. However, they were pulled down after the news of KCR's decision spread.
Speaking to media persons later, Danam Nagender completely dismissed the above developments. He said he would not wear a TRS 'khandwa' from KCR even if it was made with diamonds. He said rumours of his exit from Congress were being spread by his rivals with an aim to tarnish his image and demoralise the cadre.
Danam informed that a crucial meeting of GHCC would be held on Tuesday at Hotel Golconda to decide the strategy for forthcoming GHMC elections.
