Salman Khan Acquitted By Bombay High Court Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan gets big relief. The actor has been acquitted by the Bombay High Court in the 2002 hit-and-run case. Justice AR Joshi, who heard Khan's appeal against the five-year sentence awarded to him by a sessions court pronounced its verdict on Thursday. He said the prosecution failed to establish the charges against Salman on all counts and pronounced him as innocent.
On 28 September, 2002, the actor's car allegedly rammed into a shop in suburban Bandra. In the mishap, one person was killed and four others injured. A session court in Mumbai awarded a five-year sentence as punishment. Khan had filed an appeal in the HC against the May 6 conviction by a Mumbai sessions court. The high court had ruled that there was no evidence to prove that Salman was drunk or driving the ill-fated Toyota Land Cruiser.
Salman Khan is said to have as much as Rs 200 crore riding on him as he supposed to act in several films.With the court decision all his producers have sigh of relief.
