YSRCP promises to take up people's issues
Hyderabad, Dec 16 (INN): YSR Congress will highlight in the Assembly, beginning tomorrow, various people's issues including the Call Money cum sex racket that rocked the state and the government has budged to the pressure from opposition prompting the top police official to cancel his leave to handle the serious case.
'We will take up the Call Money cum sex scandal, in which TDP leaders are involved and as a knee-jerk reaction, Police Commissioner Goutam Sawang had cancelled leave to continue the investigation ahead of the assembly session besides other issues of public interest,' Party Deputy Floor leader Jyothula Nehru, Pillii Subhashchandra Bose and MLA Uppuleti Kalpana told reporters after the legislature party, chaired by Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy here today.
A bad precedent has been set in with ministers announcing the number of days of the assembly session which is otherwise the prerogative of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC). We demand that the session should be long enough to discuss the pressing issues concerning the people.
Besides the Call Money cum sex racket, we will also raise the Government policy on bauxite mining which goes against the tribal interests and harms the ecology of the region. This apart, the issue of Anganwadi and Asha workers who have very just demands and the plight of contract workers and the issues of drought and floods will be taken up on priority basis. We will also demand the payment of MSP and purchase of decoloured paddy and failure to control the prices of essential commodities, they said.
The Vijayawada Commissioner of Police cancelling his leave and resuming duty has raised the hopes of many people and we hope that there will be no interference in his functioning and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) should be set up to expedite the investigation and protection should be provided to those women who have openly come out and complained as they have a threat from the scam operators.
The persons involved should not be spared, however big they are in stature and however strong their political affiliations are, they said. Meanwhile, in a separate press conference, Ambati Rambabu echoed similar views and said that the Commissioner of Police should take the Call Money issue to its logical end.
