Chief Economist of Asian Development Bank visits Sri City Sri City, Dec 17 (INN): Dr. Shang-Jin Wei, Chief Economist and Director General of Economic Research, Asian Development Bank (ADB), accompanied by a team of senior officials of ADB visited Sri City on Thursday.
Satish Kamat, President (Operation), Sri City extended a warm welcome and briefed them on the infrastructure and the unique features of Sri City. Dr. Wei evinced keen interest in knowing more on various aspects of Sri City.
The team visited Sri City as part of its study on Vizag'Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC), a key element of the envisaged East Coast Economic Corridor, India's first coastal corridor. Dr. Wei had an interactive meeting with the senior executives of the industrial units of Sri City and sought their suggestions on the industrial townships and related issues.
Later, the ADB team went round the campus and witnessed the blooming industrial activity. They visited the plants of Pals Plush and Kobelco Construction, and witnessed the works in progress.
Appreciating the initiatives taken by the Sri City management in developing such a mega industrial park, Dr. Wei said he was highly impressed with the world-class infrastructure and business friendly ambiance at Sri City.
Other members of the team include Rana Hasan, Director, Development Economics and Indicators Division, Satish Reddy and Soumya Chattopadhay, Regional Cooperation Specialists.
