AP CM to receive honorary degree from CSU

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (INN): In a testimony to his vision and transformative changes, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been selected to receive a Doctorate of Honour from the Chicago State University (CSU).

The Chief Minister will be the first foreign political dignitary to receive this singular honour from the University.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Dr. Wayne Watson, President (CSU) said, 'The decision to award you the degree is a testimony to the highest regard that the University holds for you and for your extraordinary abilities to envision, plan, and bring to fruition transformative changes for the good of the great people of Andhra Pradesh.'

CSU is honouring the Chief Minister for being a pioneer of reforms and for bringing socio-economic development in the state of Andhra Pradesh by empowering farmers and unemployed women, the statement added.

Earlier, a delegation from the University met the Chief Minister to present a letter in this regard. It has also requested the Chief Minister for a special address emulating his vision of development, interaction with students, business, political and community leaders of the state. Ms. Angela Henderson, Senior Vice President and Provost for Academic affairs expressed hope to lay a foundation of good will, mutual understanding and promote commerce between the states.

From tackling disasters like Hudhud with technology expertise to making a strong pitch to foreign investors about 'Sunrise Andhra Pradesh', the Chief Minister has charted a path towards growth, development and welfare with his commitment. He has remained unperturbed by such disconcerting circumstances and steered Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh in the right direction ' towards growth, development and welfare.

Departing from the 'business as usual' approach, he has taken a focussed 'mission-mode' approach to governance with an aim to make Andhra Pradesh one of the top three states in India by 2022 best state in the country by 2029 and the best destination in the world by 2050.

Serving society, the people and striving towards their betterment through fast-paced inclusive development strategies has been the driving force behind the Chief Minister's political vision and achievements. He laid the ground for creating a large human capital by providing elementary education on a massive scale and succeeded in churning out a lakh of engineers every year from Andhra Pradesh.

From its humble origins, Chicago State University has evolved into an outstanding, nationally acclaimed university that provides a value-added education for all. The University has been at the forefront of changing lives, empowering communities.
