KTR promises welfare of auto-drivers Hyderabad, Dec 20 (INN): Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said that the Telangana Government would take all measures for the welfare of auto-drivers in the State.
Addressing a meeting of auto-rickshaw drivers at LB Nagar here on Sunday, KTR said that the State Government has waived off Transport Tax dues of nearly Rs. 77 crore of auto-rickshaw drivers. Further, the auto-drivers have been provided with insurance of Rs. 5 lakh. He promised that several such schemes would be launched in near future.
KTR said that there were nearly 1.5 lakh auto-drivers in the Greater Hyderabad limits and they could play a major role in spreading awareness on the welfare schemes of State Government. He appealed to the auto-drivers to support the TRS in the forthcoming GHMC elections. He informed that the TRS was organising a massive public meeting in January and people representing different sections of the society would be invited for the same.
