Over 100 students held for protest near AP Assembly Hyderabad, Dec 21 (INN): More than 100 students, representing NSUI, SFI and PDSU, were taken into custody when they tried to lay seize to Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly in protest against the introduction of Private Universities Bill.
The protesting students were arrested when they assembled at Gun Park opposite Assembly building. The students accused the Andhra Pradesh Government of commercialising the professional education by allowing entry of private institutions. They warned of severe protest if the State Government approves the Bill. They feared that poor students would be deprived of professional education if the Bill is passed. They demanded that the State Government strengthen the universities, instead of allowing private universities.
