Fire mishap at KCR's Yagam, President's visit cancelled A fire accident took place at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's 'Ayutha Maha Chandi Yagam' main pandal on last day of the ritual.The cause of the fire is still not known.Four fire tender rushed to the spot and the fire has been brought under control. There have been no reports of any casualty reported. Over 60,000 people and a large number of VVIPs, including several state cabinet ministers, were present at the yagna venue when the fire broke out.
As per reports sparks from 'homagundam' (fire pit) led to the accident, damaging a part of Yagashala, which was made of bamboo and grass.
The accident created a panic among people who ran out of Yagashala. Police removed barricades to prevent stampedes.Today was the last day of the five-day Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagam which is being held at Erravelli village in Jagdevpur mandal of Medak district.
President Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to attend the ritual today. This unexpected event led to President Pranab Mukherjee skipping the event.
