Congress accuses KCR of cheating Tribals Hyderabad, Dec 27 (INN): The Congress party on Sunday exposed another fake promise made by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
The Congress leaders planted saplings at the very site where the Chief Minister laid foundation stones for Banjara Bhavan, Kommaram Bheem Advasi Bhavan and Babu Jagjeevanram Bhavan on Road No. 10, Banjara Hills on December 11, 2014. All three foundation stones had no plaques, which were reportedly removed following a dispute over the land ownership.
Congress senior leaders including Greater Hyderabad Congress president Danam Nagender, former MPs M. Anjan Kumar Yadav and Ravinder Naik, former MLA Marri Sashidhar Reddy, former Deputy Mayor D. Rajkumar, ex-Corporator Bharathi Naik, GHCC (Minorities Dep) Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail and GHCC General Secretary Syed Nizamuddin were among those present on the occasion.
"KCR laid the foundation stones without even verifying the ownership status of this land. He openly cheated Tribals and Dalits in the name of Bhavans despite knowing the fact that these Bhavans would never become a reality. KCR had hurt the sentiments of all communities by making fake and tall promises. He probably imagined that his lies could never be nailed," said Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir while addressing a meeting at the site of 'non-existent Bhavans'. He said KCR did not implement other promises made with different communities. They include 12% reservation for Muslims and STs, three acres land for Dalits and Tribals and adequate funds for the development of weaker sections.
He pointed out that the then Congress Government allocated 3 acres of land, worth nearly Rs. 45 crore, in Devarkanda Basti of Banjara Hills for graveyards for Muslim and Hindus. The land was handed over to the communities in 2008 without any publicity. However, TRS Government is creating hype around everything and even staking claims on the achievements of previous Congress Government.
Shabbir Ali said KCR has been targeting different communities in several ways. "Nearly 39 engineering, two medical and other professional colleges of minorities have either closed or they are on the verge of closure due to wrong policies of TRS Government. Thousands of students have discontinued their higher studies due to non-payment of Fee Reimbursement and Scholarships. Those who completed their studies are unable to get certificates to apply for a job due to non-payment of dues by TRS Government. Now KCR is targeting the BC community on the issue of creamy layer. Only 29% of funds allocated for welfare of different communities have been spent so far," he said.
The Congress leader also accused MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi of misusing the pious platform of Milad-un-Nabi to deliver a political speech. Strongly condemning Owaisi's call for 'Hyderabad for Hyderabadis', he questioned the nativity of Owaisi brothers. "I was born in Kamareddy and completed my education in Hyderabad. Other Congress leaders are also from Telangana. But your grandfather Abdul Wahed Owaisi came from Owsa in Maharashtra. We are more Hyderabadi than Owaisi brothers," he said while asking Owaisi brother as to when they are leaving for Owsa.
Shabbir Ali also challenged Asaduddin Owaisi to furnish the list of poor students who were given admission in educational institutions run by the MIM. He alleged that the MIM leaders turned billionaires while exploiting the sentiments of poor Muslims. "MIM leaders own Bentley, BMW and other super luxury cars. But poor Hyderabadis have remained push cart vendors. Congress party made the mistake of milking snakes of MIM and was bitten badly. We are now recovering from the venomous impact and would soon teach them a lesson. They not only cheated the Congress party, but did nothing for the development of Muslim community," he said.
He said that the Congress party does not indulge in hate and emotional politics. "We seek vote on the basis of performance. Congress Government provided 4% reservation to Muslims. The MIM had openly opposed reservation for Muslims. We fought several legal cases and ensured continuation of reservation which benefitted over 10 lakh people since 2004," he said.
Shabbir Ali asked the MIM leaders to explain their contribution in the development of Hyderabad, especially Old City, and also the Muslim community.
