CPI Leader A.B. Bardhan Dead Communist Party of India (CPI) leader A.B. Bardhan who was undergoing treatment from past few days died at a hospital in Delhi. He was 92.Bardhan had suffered a paralytic stroke on December 7, following which he was admitted to the hospital.
Bardan was the former general secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), one of the oldest political parties in India.Several political bigwigs expressed sorrow over death of Bardhan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Twitter, saying: "Will always remember Shri A B Bardhan as a passionate Communist, fully committed to his ideology & principles. May his soul rest in peace."
Congress president Sonia Gandhi also expressed her condolences. Bardhan played a key role in the formation of the United Progressive Alliance government which was supported by the Communist Party of India
