Expedite Mission Kakatiya works: Harish Rao
Hyderabad, Jan 3 (INN): Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has directed the officials to complete the first phase of Mission Kakatiya works by March 31.
The minister on Sunday held a video-conference with the irrigation department officials of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Khammam districts. Addressing the review meeting, Harish Rao said that all pending works of Phase-I should be completed within three months to initiate the second phase works. He expressed satisfaction over the outcome of Mission Kakatiya works. He said rain water got accumulated in lakes and tanks which were earlier considered dead. He said this has significantly improved the groundwater levels.
The minister asked officials to prepare a closing report after the completion of works on each lake. He also asked to keep a check on quality control. He said that the government would also focus on protection of lakes through village-level committees.
