TRS only contribution is pink hoardings: TPCC Chief

Hyderabad, Jan 28 (INN): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that with no real contribution to Hyderabad, TRS party bigwigs are using their ill-gotten wealth to carryout false propaganda in GHMC elections. The only contribution of TRS party to Hyderabad is pink hoardings, he said.

Addressing different election meetings in Uppal, Ramanthapur, Chilkanagar and other wards on Thursday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said TRS was indulging in false propaganda by erecting flexies on metro rail pillars with the pictures of projects sanctioned and largely built under previous Congress regime. "Their only contribution to Metro Rail is delaying the project by 18 months. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao delayed the project on the grounds of changing route alignment. But now he has gone back to the same alignment designed and approved by Congress Government. Through their pink hoardings and other publicity material, TRS is falsely claiming credit for projects sanctioned and works which progressed during Congress Government. They include bringing Godavari and Krishna River water to Hyderabad, Metro Rail project, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Nehru Outer Ring Road, PVNR Expressway and all other major landmarks development activities. TRS is falsely claiming credit for these projects while all of them were taken up by the previous Congress regime," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy has also accused the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi of pursuing the politics of intimidation and cheating to win the GHMC elections. He accused the Chief Minister of selectively targeting different sections of the society so as to intimidate them to support the TRS Government. "Within a week after coming to power, the Chief Minister ordered demolition of buildings in Ayyappa Society on the pretext them being illegal. Buildings owned by people of Seemandhra region were selectively targeted. This was done to instill fear and uncertainty among them against buying or constructing properties in Hyderabad. Later, 26 BC castes were removed from the State list as they hailed from Seemandhra. Poor students of Seemandhra region, who were pursuing various professional courses, were denied Fee Reimbursement benefits forcing many of them to discontinue their higher studies," he said adding that the present love and sympathies being showered upon by TRS leaders on Seemandhra was only aimed at encroaching upon their vote bank.

The TPCC Chief advised the people of Seemandhra region not to fall prey to the vote bank politics of TRS. He also cautioned them against voting in favour TDP-BJP combine as both the parties are secret allies of TRS. "Talasani Srinivas Yadav is still a TDP MLA and has been serving as a minister in KCR's cabinet. If TRS and TDP were rivals, then AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would have demanded Talasani's removal before making friendship with KCR. Your vote will go waste if you elect TDP-BJP candidates as they might join the TRS anytime. Congress party is the best and only option to fight against the dictatorial role of KCR," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also accused TRS Government of cheating the Muslim community with fake promises. "KCR must clarify the status of his promise on giving 12% Muslim reservation. He had promised to give 12% Muslim reservation within four months after coming to power. But nothing has been done even after 19 months. TRS Government did not constitute the new Wakf Board, Urdu Academy or other bodies related to minority communities. The temporary staff working with various wings of Minorities Welfare Department has been excluded from regularisation drive. Implementation of Urdu as second official language has been completely ignored. KCR has hushed up the killing of five Muslim under trials at Alair and the SIT, which was constituted to probe into the encounter, remained a non-starter."

He said that the people of Greater Hyderabad have realised that TRS and KCR were all about tall claims and fake promises. Therefore, he expressed confidence of Congress party winning the GHMC elections with a thumping majority.
